We’ve removed an old abandoned caravan from Lot 68 Forest Creek Road, another positive step toward restoring this part of the Daintree’s lowland rainforest and wetland ecosystem.

The caravan, left by a previous owner when the area was zoned for rural residential use, was hindering ecological recovery. Its removal clears the way for natural regeneration of the rainforest.

Our founder Kelvin and property maintenance tradesman Akin Turk removing the caravan from Lot 68.

This land forms an important wildlife corridor supporting species such as the Southern Cassowary and Bennett’s Tree-kangaroo and maintaining habitat connectivity at this location helps these animals thrive.

With the caravan gone, the next steps are to clear environmental weeds and plant native trees to support rainforest regrowth. Natural recovery has already begun in cleared areas, and with focused, science-based restoration, these zones can return to healthy rainforest within a few years.

Once restored, Lot 68 Forest Creek Road will be managed for conservation indefinitely and assessed for inclusion in the Daintree National Park (CYPAL) through the Pathway to Protection process.

Removing the caravan may seem small, but it marks a shift from neglect and fragmentation toward ecological healing. Protecting land like Lot 68 strengthens resilience against development pressure and broader environmental threats like climate change.

Thank you to the donors whose support completed fundraising for the purchase, protection and restoration of Lot 68 Forest Creek Road in the Daintree Rainforest.
