We're thrilled to share this wonderful news. Thanks to hundreds of generous donors, Lot 137 Carbeen Road in the Daintree Rainforest has been purchased and can now be provided with the highest level of protection.

When this freehold property in the Daintree Rainforest came on the market, we knew there was no time to waste. As the last undeveloped freehold block on Carbeen Road, securing it for conservation was vitally important.

Thank you

Your generous support has been critical in securing this vital link in the Daintree Lowland Rainforest. Cassowaries, Quolls and Tree-kangaroos can now enjoy their protected habitat. Thank you to everyone who donated. You've helped to save the oldest continually existing rainforest on Earth.

Lot 137 Carbeen Road, in the heart of the Daintree Lowland Rainforest, provides essential habitat for the Endangered Southern Cassowary, shares two boundaries with Daintree National Park, sits adjacent to the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area, is adjacent to the Great Barrier Reef catchment wetlands, and consolidates adjoining protected areas.

This old-growth tropical rainforest is also home to three threatened plant species, including the abundant Daintree Ryparosa, Noah's Walnut, and the vulnerable Climbing Pandanus. It provides critical habitat for Spotted-tailed Quolls, Bennett's Tree-kangaroos, Spectacled Flying-foxes, and many more species.

What's next

Now that Lot 137 is secured, it will be added to the Pathway to Protection, where it will be assessed and considered for inclusion in the Daintree National Park (CYPAL) estate, providing the highest level of protection available. This will also help reverse the impacts of past development and improve the conservation of the Daintree Lowland Rainforest.

Daintree's Lot 137 is now protected for the Southern Cassowary and Bennett's Tree-kangaroos.

With your help, we've now protected 36 Daintree Rainforest properties. Please see them all here

Thank you for everything you do to help save the Daintree.
