Hooray! We've got something very special to celebrate, and it's all because of you!!
The fundraising goal to purchase and protect Lot 204 Cedar Road in the Daintree Lowland Rainforest has been reached, meaning this property at Cow Bay can now be settled and managed for its exceptional conservation values.
This great outcome will provide a secure habitat for species like the endangered southern cassowary, and 118 species of native plants found on Lot 204.
Thank you to each and every one of you who made this incredible outcome possible. I am so grateful for your ongoing support in saving the Daintree.
Together, we have now protected 31 rainforest properties in the Daintree Lowland Rainforest! What an achievement.
Lot 204 saved from the threat of development!
What's next for Lot 204?
Following settlement of Lot 204 Cedar Road, we will work to remove a makeshift shelter on the property and restore the cleared areas, to return this property to full health.
Then, we will look at how to best manage this property for conservation. Every Daintree rainforest property we purchase sparks the process for it to be considered for protection under Queensland legislation. This includes the potential for it to be included in the Daintree National Park (CYPAL).
Old growth tropical rainforest at Lot 70 Forest Creek Road
Two protected, 1 more to go before June 30
The Daintree Lowland Rainforest is the oldest rainforest on Earth, having existed continuously for over 120 million years. It holds exceptionally high biodiversity and conservation value and is the largest continuous area of tropical rainforest remaining in Australia.
With your help, we're purchasing freehold land in the Daintree Lowland Rainforest to ensure it's protected forever.
Having secured the future of Lot 232 White Beech Road and Lot 204 Cedar Road within a month (thank you!), we have just ONE more Daintree Rainforest property under contract.
We're still working hard to purchase and protect Lot 70 Forest Creek, a high conservation value rainforest block a Forest Creek, before June 30.
Already, generous donors have contributed close to $50,000 to its purchase. But with $200,154 still left to raise, there's still a way to go.
If you can, would you consider making a further donation to our end-of-financial-year appeal?

We're so thankful for all you do to save our rainforests.
Through land buyback, we’re turning the tide towards conservation in the Daintree Rainforest and protecting the biodiversity of this incredible ecosystem.
